One Mind

Posted February 3, 2017

SEATTLE, WA – February 3, 2017  The focus of One Mind has and always will be a collaboratively focused commitment to benefit all affected by brain illness and injury. Since our inception in 2011, a major segment of the population our work had been dedicated to is the 2.5 million Americans per year who experience a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and the staggering high percentage of U.S. Military servicemen and women, veterans and family members who suffer from or are affected by Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) or TBI.

To enable the collaborative work we have done to date and the work we plan to do, we have had an incredible amount support from a broad range of donor organizations. One of significance is the Schultz Family Foundation, who as part of their $30 million Onward Veterans program that is dedicated to supporting successful transitions for post-9/11 veterans, sponsored the first-of-its-kind online veteran support program our organization helped launch in 2014 that supports those challenged with PTS and TBI.

The Schultz Family Foundation and Starbucks have given an incredible amount of support to the members and veterans of the U.S. Military. This is seen through the 8,800 veterans and military spouses Starbucks has hired to date since 2013, the support Starbucks provides through the Starbucks Armed Forces Network, the 80 hours of pay and pay equity per year Starbucks provides to their veteran hires and spouses for time spent on duty, the 32 Military Family Stores they have created near U.S. military bases that initiate customized onsite military focused programs, their Adopt a Unit program that strengthens military-community relationships, the 60,000 lbs. per year of whole bean coffee Starbucks donates and ships to U.S. troops serving overseas and much more (see links below).

It is influenced by the above and by the extraordinary support Starbucks and the Schultz Family Foundation provides the members and veterans of the U.S. military and the organizations that support them that we write this letter to recognize and praise the related work they have done to date.
